Instructions For Using
Assessor Maps
About This Site
The
directories on this site contain the current version of each Assessor map of
record. They are arranged by Assessor’s map book and each one contains all the
Assessor’s Maps for that particular book. The directory also contains the index
maps and subdivision index for each map book.
A
directory called Index Maps contains map book indexes for the county and
cities. These will aid in locating the map book of a specific geographic area.
A
directory called Map Standards Information contains information about reading
the maps including tie-hooks, line types, adjacent page references, and so
forth.
The
View Print Instructions file contains information about viewing the maps using
Windows after the maps are downloaded.
The
file format used is Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) with a .tif file extension.
This is industry standard and is compatible with most image file viewers.
Downloading or Viewing Individual Maps
The
process for viewing and downloading varies depending on your operating system,
web browser, and viewing software. For most systems, if you wish to view or
download a map and you know the map you want, click the Book Number, and then
click on the map you want. A box will display asking if you would like to open
or save the map. To view the map, select open. To download the map, select
save.
If
you have an APN (Assessor’s Parcel Number), identify the first 3 digits. This
is the book. Click the corresponding book number directory. Identify the second
set of 3 digits in the APN. This is the page/block number. The file names
contain either the first 5 digits, or the first 6 digits of an APN. If you see
a file that matches the first 6 digits of your APN, choose that one. If no 6
digit file exists, choose the file that matches the first 5 digits.
Bulk Downloads BEWARE
If
you wish to download the entire Assessor map library, use the file called All
Assessor Maps.ZIP. BEWARE! This is a 500Mb file! Attempt this only if you have
a high-speed connection! Even with a high-speed connection, it will take a long
time to download.
